House Jan. 6 committee hearing focuses on Trump’s pressure on Pence | June 16

0 Views· 11/08/23

The House select committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol held the third in a series of public hearings on Thursday with testimony from former Vice President Mike Pence's former counsel Greg Jacob and conservative jurist J. Michael Luttig. The hearing focused on former President Donald Trump's campaign to pressure Pence to reject electoral votes. The committee has continued to lay out evidence showing Trump encouraged his supporters to descend on the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, after peddling false claims that the 2020 presidential election was stolen. On Monday, the committee also outlined how the Trump campaign and allies used baseless claims of election fraud to raise millions of dollars from Trump supporters, claiming it was needed to fund election-related lawsuits.
